What Financial Coaching support can Converge provide?

Budgeting is a strong foundation, but our coaching goes far beyond it to build financial literacy, confidence and long-term financial wellbeing. A budget is an excellent starting point, but lasting financial wellbeing comes from understanding your money, building healthy financial habits and making informed financial decisions.

Good money management starts with understanding where your money goes—not simply creating a budget. Financial coaching helps employees improve financial wellbeing through better spending habits, stronger financial literacy, healthier money behaviours and practical strategies for achieving long-term financial goals. While budgeting is one important tool, our financial coaches also support debt reduction, savings, retirement planning, financial resilience and major life transitions.

A financial coach can support employees to achieve good financial management with:

  • Financial Health
  • Excellent Money Management
  • Reaching Financial Goals/Milestones
  • Debt Reduction/Education
  • Property Purchase Guidance
  • Reducing over-spending
  • Money & Relationships
  • How & when to borrow money
  • Stop Living Pay to Pay
  • Financial management during change to income/pay cycles
  • Financial strategies during divorce/relationship separation
  • Redundancy or Employment Transition
  • Understanding Superannuation and investing fundamentals
  • Planning for retirement

What Does a Financial Coaching Appointment Look Like?

Supporting 2.7 million employees & their immediate family members across 1,700 organisations

Financial coaching starts with understanding your current financial situation and future goals. Your financial coach then develops a personalised action plan, provides ongoing guidance and helps you build the confidence and skills to make informed financial decisions. Every appointment is confidential, practical and tailored to your individual needs.

01

Complete your financial health check

Your staff’s first appointment focuses on understanding their current financial situation, financial goals and any challenges they’re experiencing. Their financial coach may complete a financial health check, identify priority areas and recommend practical strategies or activities to help build greater awareness of their spending habits and financial behaviours.

02

Receive your personalised financial coaching plan

Based on their goals, their financial coach develops a tailored action plan designed around their circumstances. Appointments can be held weekly or fortnightly via phone or video, depending on their preferences and availability. Employees can attend individually or with a partner, and every session is completely confidential.

03

Build long-term financial confidence

As they progress through their coaching program, their financial coach provides practical guidance, accountability and ongoing support to help them achieve their goals.

Financial Coaching Frequently Asked Questions

What is financial coaching and how can it improve employee financial wellbeing?

Financial coaching is a personalised, one-on-one service that helps employees build financial confidence and achieve financial goals. Through expert guidance from a money coach or financial mentor, employees can learn budgeting skills, financial education principles, and ways to manage cost-of-living pressures and constraints. By supporting employee financial wellbeing, financial coaching can help to reduce stress, improve financial literacy, and enhance overall workplace financial wellness.

What topics are covered in financial coaching sessions?

Each financial coaching session is tailored to the employee’s individual needs. Topics may include budgeting, saving strategies, debt reduction, financial goal setting, superannuation education, retirement planning, and building healthy money habits. Employees work closely with a qualified money coach or financial mentor to create practical, achievable plans that support ongoing financial wellbeing both at work and at home.

Why is employee financial wellbeing important for businesses?

Employee financial wellbeing can be linked to improved workplace engagement, and mental health and wellbeing. When employees feel financially secure, they can often be less stressed and more able to focus and show resilience. How? Because support with financial issues and challenges positively correlates with improved wellbeing. Greater wellbeing means fewer outside pressures impacting your employee’s performance and productivity.

Investing in workplace financial wellbeing initiatives — such as financial coaching or financial mentor — can reduce financial stress, improve staff retention, and foster a positive organisational culture where employees can thrive personally and professionally.

Who can benefit from financial coaching or mentoring?

Everyone can benefit from financial coaching — from those managing debt to those planning for major life milestones like home ownership or retirement. A financial mentor or money coach provides tailored financial education to help employees build savings, create realistic budgets, and reach personal financial goals. Whether an employee is struggling financially or simply wants to improve their money management skills, financial coaching enhances overall financial wellbeing and empowers long-term success.

Is Converge financial coaching confidential?

Yes. Financial support appointments are confidential. Employees can attend on their own or with a partner, and appointment details are not shared with their employer.

Is financial coaching the same as financial advice?

No. Converge financial coaching provides education, guidance and practical support, but it is not financial advice. Coaches do not recommend specific investments, funds or financial products.

Can financial coaching help employees manage debt?

Yes. Financial coaching can help employees understand their debt, create realistic management plans, reduce stress and build more control over their financial situation.

Can financial coaching support retirement planning?

Yes. Financial coaching can support employees with retirement planning, superannuation education and financial goal setting.

How can employees access Converge financial coaching?

Eligible employees can access financial coaching through their organisation’s Converge EAP or workplace wellbeing program via the Converge App, Employee Wellbeing Portal or available booking channels.
