— Understanding EAP
What is an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?
An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is an employer-funded service that gives employees and eligible family members confidential access to counselling, coaching and wellbeing support for personal or work-related challenges. Support is provided at no cost to the employee and may be delivered face-to-face, virtually or by telephone.
While many EAP providers only offer counselling, Converge goes one step further. We provide digitally enabled, human expertise support, covering all ends of the wellbeing spectrum – such as leadership support, diet and nutrition, financial wellbeing, conflict and interpersonal relationships, and counselling for family members.
Here are some key outcomes delivered by Converge over FY25
(all Converge data is anonymised and collected via post-session feedback surveys).
326,000+ clinical appointments delivered
49,000+ critical incident hours delivered
102,000+ individuals supported via EAP
400,000+ meaningful and impactful engagements with employees
The Difference
How Converge Goes Beyond a Traditional EAP
Every organisation wants a healthier, safer and more productive workplace, but achieving that takes more than offering support when problems arise. Converge partners with businesses to build workplaces where employees can thrive through expert care, proactive wellbeing strategies, leadership support and digital wellbeing technology. Here’s what that difference looks like.
| Why Businesses Choose Converge | Traditional Wellbeing Approach |
|---|---|
| Integrated Employee Assistance Program (EAP), workplace wellbeing and digital wellbeing ecosystem | Standalone EAP focused primarily on counselling |
| Support for employees, managers, leaders and organisations through every stage of the wellbeing journey | Support is largely reactive and centred on employees in crisis |
| 24/7 access through the Converge App, Employee Wellbeing Portal and multiple booking channels | Limited access methods and fewer opportunities for proactive engagement |
| Specialist services including leadership development, coaching, psychosocial risk, conflict support and critical incident response | Limited wellbeing services beyond counselling |
| Trusted by 1,700+ organisations with national coverage, clinical expertise and measurable wellbeing outcomes | Smaller service offering with fewer integrated workplace wellbeing capabilities |

— EAP Benefits
Why Businesses Invest in Workplace Wellbeing
For organisations, regardless of size, maintaining engagement, productivity, and focus is essential. Similarly, we all know that our work and home life are deeply intertwined, so when something is bothering your people at home, it can impact their ability to perform at work. As a result, productivity, performance, and wellbeing can decline.
Equally, if an organisation doesn’t demonstrate their commitment to wellbeing, talent are more likely to look elsewhere, and current employees may become increasingly burnt out and turnover may increase.
With Converge as your EAP provider, we actively support your people and organisation in retaining top talent, demonstrating your commitment to their wellbeing, and through our digitally-backed human support, our proactive support model means help employees seek support earlier and reduce the risk of issues escalating. Here are the benefits of partnering with Converge:
Employee Wellbeing: We drive positive wellbeing outcomes for your people, helping them succeed, feel more productive, and effectively navigate and overcomes challenges in their personal and professional life.
Retention: We help your employees remain engaged and motivated through our expert, evidence-based support. Gallup states that unengaged teams have a 45% higher churn rate than those who are engaged – that’s why EAP is essential, to help you maintain highier employee engagement.
Psychological Safety: Healthy workplaces are what employees are searching for. When employers invest in psychological safety through EAP and psychosocial risk assessments, we’re able to support you in identifying risks and mitigating any impact on your people.
Leadership Capability: Through EAP services, such as Manager Support, we can help your leaders develop the hard-to-learn skills, including emotional intelligence, so they can lead their teams proficiently and handle wellbeing challenges with confidence.
